Biography:
Mert Can Kurucu received the B.Sc. (2017), M.Sc. (2020), and Ph.D. (2025) degrees in Control and Automation Engineering from the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Türkiye, where he is currently a research assistant. His research focuses on integrating fractional calculus with deep learning and control. He has developed fractional derivative-based adaptive and robust loss functions for learning with noisy data and implemented real-time, variable-order fractional controllers on quadcopters. He has also worked on graph neural networks for medical datasets and on reinforcement learning for the seismic protection of buildings.
