Biography:
Edson Denis Leonel is a Professor of Physics at São Paulo State University (UNESP), Brazil, where he currently serves as Chief Advisor for Faculty Hiring at the Rector's Office and was previously Dean of the Institute of Geosciences and Exact Sciences (2021-2025). He leads the Complex Systems and Nonlinear Dynamics Group, founded in 2006, dedicated to the study of nonlinear dynamics, statistical mechanics, and phase transitions in chaotic systems. His research covers topics such as scaling laws, dynamical phase transitions, billiard systems, Fisher information geometry, and suppression of Fermi acceleration. Professor Leonel has authored several books, including Scaling Laws in Dynamical Systems (2021), Dynamical Phase Transitions in Chaotic Systems (2023), and Foundations of Statistical Mechanics (2025). He received the 2023 Afraimovich Award for his contributions to scaling laws and phase transitions in dynamical systems. He has served as organizer and chair of multiple international conferences in nonlinear science and complexity, and collaborates with leading researchers worldwide.
